Samsung Dishwasher LC Error Code

Samsung says LC (LE on some models) means the leak sensor in the base detected moisture where it should not be, even if you cannot see a leak. Also shown as LE on some models.

I am Ramez, owner of R3M Appliance Repair in Rockwall, TX. Below is what this code means, what you can safely try before calling anyone, and the point where it is time to call. If you are in the Rockwall area and want it handled today: (469) 446-4242.

Step 1

What usually causes LC

Most common first. In my experience the first one or two on this list account for most Samsung LC calls.

  1. 1. Water in the base pan from a hose, seal or door gasket leak
  2. 2. Garbage disposal knockout plug not removed after a new install, causing backflow
  3. 3. Too much detergent or suds reaching the sensor
  4. 4. Dishwasher recently moved, splashing water onto the sensor
  5. 5. Faulty leak sensor
Step 2

What to try before you call

Safe things a homeowner can do. Unplug the dishwasher before reaching into anything.

  1. Turn the dishwasher off at the breaker or unplug it. It will keep beeping until the sensor is dry.
  2. Check the water supply and drain hose connections under the sink for drips.
  3. If it was just connected to a new disposal, confirm the disposal's dishwasher knockout plug was removed.
  4. Use less detergent, leave it unplugged for several hours so the base can dry, then restore power.
Step 3

When to stop and call a technician

The code returns after drying out, or you find water in the base pan, because an internal hose or the sump is probably leaking. At that point the fix is usually a part, and guessing at parts gets expensive fast. I test first, then quote, so you only pay for what is actually broken.

Parts that usually fix a Samsung LC

If the steps above did not clear it, one of these is the usual culprit. Always match the part to your full model number (on the sticker inside the door or on the back).

Questions

Samsung LC questions

How do I clear the LC code on my Samsung dishwasher?

Fix the cause first, then unplug the dishwasher (or turn it off at the breaker) for about a minute and restart. The code clears once the dishwasher no longer sees the problem. If it comes right back, the cause is still there.

Is LC the same as LE?

Yes. Samsung uses different displays on different model years, so the same problem shows up as LC on some machines and LE on others. The fix is the same.

Is a Samsung dishwasher with a LC error worth repairing?

Usually yes. Leak sensor and similar parts cost a fraction of a new dishwasher. I tell you the price before any work starts, and if a repair is not worth it I say so.

Can you come out today for a Samsung LC error in Rockwall?

Most days, yes. I carry common Samsung parts on the truck, so many LC repairs are done in one visit. Call or text (469) 446-4242 with your model number.
