Samsung Washer 4C Error Code
Samsung says 4C (4E on older models) means water is not entering the washer correctly. It is a fill / water-supply problem, not a drain problem. Also shown as 4E on some models.

- 1. Water supply taps not fully open, or hoses kinked behind the washer
- 2. Clogged mesh filters in the inlet hoses or inlet valve

- 4. Drain hose set too deep in the standpipe, so water siphons out as it fills
- 5. Faulty water inlet valve

- Open both hot and cold supply valves fully and straighten any kinked hoses behind the washer.
- Turn off the water, unscrew the inlet hoses and rinse the small mesh screens at the hose ends and valve inlets.
- Confirm the hoses are on the correct hot/cold inlets and the drain hose sits only 6 to 8 inches into the standpipe.
- Unplug the washer for one minute, restore power and restart the cycle.

Water pressure and hoses are fine, the filters are clean, and the washer still will not fill. At that point the fix is usually a part, and guessing at parts gets expensive fast. I test first, then quote, so you only pay for what is actually broken.

How do I clear the 4C code on my Samsung washer?
Fix the cause first, then unplug the washer (or turn it off at the breaker) for about a minute and restart. The code clears once the washer no longer sees the problem. If it comes right back, the cause is still there.
Is 4C the same as 4E?
Yes. Samsung uses different displays on different model years, so the same problem shows up as 4C on some machines and 4E on others. The fix is the same.
