Usual cause: Clogged vent line or a lint-packed blower housing. Sometimes a weak heating element.
What I do: I check airflow first. A blocked vent is also a fire risk, so this one matters.
Drum will not turn
Usual cause: Broken belt, worn drum rollers or a failed motor.
What I do: Belts and rollers are quick. Motors are still usually worth it.
Squealing or thumping
Usual cause: Drum rollers, idler pulley or glides.
What I do: Same-day on most dryers.
Shuts off early or overheats
Usual cause: Cycling thermostat, moisture sensor or restricted airflow.

Do you work on gas dryers?
Yes. Igniters, gas valve coils, flame sensors and thermal fuses.
Can you clean the dryer vent too?
I clear the vent at the machine and check airflow through the wall. Full duct cleaning through the roof is a separate service I can point you to.
My dryer smells like burning. Should I keep using it?
No. Unplug it and call. It is usually lint on the element, but it should be looked at before the next load.
